{"id":29535,"date":"2013-08-26T08:30:11","date_gmt":"2013-08-26T07:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/barcelonacolours.wordpress.com\/?p=2185"},"modified":"2022-03-01T23:49:18","modified_gmt":"2022-03-01T21:49:18","slug":"visiting-mnac-with-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/en\/visiting-mnac-with-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Visiting MNAC with children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Building of MNAC (<strong>National Art Museum of Catalonia<\/strong>) was constructed for the International Exhibition of Barcelona of 1929.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The urgency of the construction of the building and a few quality issues of the materials \u00a0used, \u00a0made the Palau National acknowledge serious structural deficiencies. A major rehabilitation was required before becoming host of the MNAC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac021.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC02\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To get to MNAC you need to leave behind the waterfalls and the Carles Bugas fountains (also were made to the Expo), which give joy and color to the route.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At night, the fountains are illuminated, and it&#8217;s a spectacle that worths visiting. (in a next post I will propose an activity that you can do with your children while visiting the fountains).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac031.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC03\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><b>DISCOUNT TICKETS\u00a0TO\u00a0MNAC<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">General admission costs 12 euros (free for children under 16 years), and is valid for two days during one month from the date of purchase. It&#8217;s a good idea, because trying to see all the Museum at\u00a0once (and with children!) can be exhausting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, there are several possibilities of <strong>discounts<\/strong>: Combined entrance MNAC and Poble Espa\u00f1ol, for 18 euros. Or as a member of <a title=\"Friends of MNAC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amicsdelmnac.org\/?op=membres&amp;op1=beneficis&amp;menu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">friends of MNAC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><b>ART COLLECTION\u00a0MNAC<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Museum has various collections of Gothic, modern art, numismatics, drawings, engravings, posters and photography. <strong>But what makes MNAC stand out for is its Roman Art collection, one of the most complete art collection in the world art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac042.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac042.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC04\" width=\"640\" height=\"409\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also includes a large background of art works from Renaissance and Baroque periods, thanks to the legacy of the <strong>Thyssen Bornemisza\u00a0collection<\/strong> (which was previously located in the monastery of Pedralbes), and the <strong>collection Camb\u00f3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac051.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac051.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC05\" width=\"640\" height=\"478\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In MNAC you can see artworks\u00a0of Bartolom\u00e9 Bermejo, Zurbar\u00e1n, Vel\u00e1zquez, Rubens, Fra Angelico, Canaletto, Tiepolo, Goya, Pablo Picasso, Edvard Much and from the Catalan artists Mariano Fortuny, Ram\u00f3n Casas, Salvador Dali or Antoni T\u00e0pies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For those who want, you can check the artworks before, from your computer by clicking <a title=\"artworks MNAC\" href=\"http:\/\/art.mnac.cat\/?&amp;lang=es\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>SANT CLIMENT DE TAHULL<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We highlight three favorite areas: the area of <strong>modern art<\/strong>, with sculptors such as Juli Gonz\u00e1lez (among others). The spectacular <strong>pantocrator of San Clemente de Tahull<\/strong> . And the paintings of the Chapter House of the <strong>monastery of Santa Mar\u00eda de Sigena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac081.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac081.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC08\" width=\"640\" height=\"429\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Oval Room of the MNAC, with it&#8217;s\u00a0impressive organ of 34 meters wide and 14 high, it is often hired for events, openings, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac061.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac061.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC06\" width=\"640\" height=\"417\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The shop of the museum, &#8220;el caf\u00e9 del Mnac&#8221; (snack bar, sandwiches and menu during the\u00a0week) and the restaurant \u00d2leum (average price 30 euros per\u00a0person) belongs to the <a title=\"laie\" href=\"http:\/\/www.laie.es\/mnac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LAIE<\/a> chain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac071.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac071.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC07\" width=\"640\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>ONE OF THE BEST VIEWS OF\u00a0BARCELONA<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The outdoor terrace of the MNAC it also belongs to LAIE. After the visit to the Museum, what a great plan to sit outdoors and have a lemon granita enjoying one of the best views of Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac091.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac091.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC09\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unfortunately the photos do not make such impact because the day was a little cloudy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac111.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac111.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC11\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But you can see the cosmopolitan atmosphere, often enlivened by street musicians.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac101.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac101.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC10\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Plenty of space for the children to run and play, beautiful views, good pictures, and a cafeteria with a complete offer: soft drinks, ice-creams, granitas, shakes, sandwiches, pastries, coffees, mojitos..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac121.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bcncolours_mnac121.jpg\" alt=\"bcncolours_MNAC12\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As it was Thursday, we could enjoy a <strong>free guitar concert<\/strong> in one of the courtyards of the building (the photo on the left is from the Twitter of \u00a0@MNAC_museu.
