Discovering the less turistic Barcelona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Horta is a district of Barcelona with a lot of charm<\/strong>. A few days ago we were invited from the\u00a0District of Horta to discover it in\u00a0a very original way &#8230; in Segway.<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>VISITING HORTA<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n<p>The appointment was at the\u00a0bar Quimet d&#8217;Horta, in \u00a0Eivissa square, one of the most historic bars in the area and that brags of having\u00a0<strong>&#8220;(perhaps) the best chapatas of Barcelona&#8221;.<\/strong>\u00a0Actually, it is run by Josep Lluis and Xavier . There we met the actor Jordi Mart\u00ednez, &#8220;living in Horta from always&#8221; who is responsible for guiding us through his home district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After explaining \u00a0a little bit the plan of\u00a0the afternoon we went to the <strong>Square of\u00a0Santes Creus<\/strong>, the old Plaza Mayor of Horta. There they gave us the segways\u00a0and we begun the route. One of the curiosities of this square\u00a0is that it has <strong>a replica of the Fountain of Canaletas in Las Ramblas.<\/strong> It was a gift made \u200b\u200bfrom the City to the district of\u00a0Horta when annexed, in 1904.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3422\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/img_23121.jpg\" alt=\"Horta en segway\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/aaaa-collage.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3423\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/aaaa-collage1.jpg\" alt=\"Horta en segway\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Right on this square there is a fantastic public\u00a0play center. While I was practicing with the Segway, which turned out to be &#8220;easier&#8221; than I expected, I was looking how children were going in and out of the <strong>Play Center\u00a0El Galliner<\/strong>, so I wrote it down as a place to take into consideration if you live or go with children in Horta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3424\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/aaa-collage11.jpg\" alt=\"Ludoteca el Galliner d'Horta\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We went towards the <strong>Campoamor street<\/strong> located in what is known as the <strong>&#8220;Eixample of Horta&#8221;<\/strong>. It is a street where you can see beautiful modernist style homes, some of which they have even appeared\u00a0in television series. We continue to the <strong>Square of Masias<\/strong>, bajada de\u00a0la Plana, Tajo street until we reached\u00a0the <strong>Aiguafreda<\/strong> street.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3427\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/img_23421.jpg\" alt=\"Horta en segway\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3430\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/img_23471.jpg\" alt=\"Horta. Torre de agua\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Aiguafreda street<\/strong> is famous for its\u00a0low and colorful houses, but also for the <strong>water wells<\/strong> that were serving\u00a0 for washing\u00a0clothes in the laundries that still exist. During the early seventeenth century to the early twentieth much of the clothing of rich people of\u00a0Barcelona were washed in Horta. They were picking them up\u00a0on Mondays and on Saturdays they returned them clean.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3432\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/img_23511.jpg\" alt=\"Horta en segway\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We left there the segways for a while \u00a0and Raquel J\u00falbez, <strong>representing the commercial hub of Horta<\/strong>, explained to us\u00a0about the commercial options of Horta\u00a0 and invited us to go shopping there. There are centenery\u00a0shops like Cereals Tarrida , children stores, etc..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3433\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/img_23531.jpg\" alt=\"Horta en segway\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From there we took again the\u00a0segways and started the real &#8220;tour&#8221;. This stuff, the segway, is better than having a SUV &#8230; look where we went &#8230; destination &#8230; <strong>Turo de la Rovira.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3434\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/img_23851.jpg\" alt=\"Horta en segway\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We have already talked about <strong>Turo de la Rovira or the Antiaircraft Batteries<\/strong> in this <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/las-mejores-vistas-de-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">post<\/a>,\u00a0a great discovery\u00a0for its spectacular views of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bbut climbing accompanied by experts in the area resulted in learning\u00a0such curious things. For example, from\u00a0III to II BC it was occupied by an Iberian settlement and after the abandonment of the antiaircraft battery it was filled with more than 600 booths, being the reason\u00a0you can see different types of floor tiles that people collected\u00a0from other places<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We ended up eating typical local and catalan products \u00a0in the restaurant <strong>&#8220;Es Bandoler&#8221;<\/strong>. Authentic decoration, with a special charm and very good products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3439\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/img_24011.jpg\" alt=\"Es bandoler\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I could get into\u00a0more detail but I think I have already said enough. Summarizing\u00a0&#8230; I have to get back to\u00a0Horta in family and get to know its people, and their shops.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do you know Horta?
