They vary in difficulty and distance. Some are very easy and suitable for families with very young children (for example, the Degotalls Path in Montserrat or the Torrent de Colobrers in Sabadell). Others are more challenging due to steeper terrain. Additionally, a couple of these outings require prior reservations as they are guided: the Castle of Erampruny\u00e0 (free visit) and the Artistic Forest of Ernest Borr\u00e0s (reservation required, with a fee).<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><b>10 HIKES ONE HOUR FROM BARCELONA (OR LESS)<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong><b>1. EASY HIKE IN COLLSEROLA: LA FONT DE LA BUDELLERA<\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Find all the details of this route here: <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/fuente-de-la-budellera\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>La Font de la Budellera<\/i>.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hike to La Font de la Budellera <\/span><b>in Collserola <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is easy and located very close to Barcelona\u2019s city center. It\u2019s nestled<\/span><b> in the shade of Tibidabo and near Vallvidrera. One of the biggest advantages, aside from its simplicity and proximity, is that it\u2019s accessible via public transport (FFCC).<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60094\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Font-de-la-Budellera-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Collserola Natural Park website outlines several hiking and biking routes in the area. To reach the fountain, the suggested route starts at the Interpretation Center and ends at the Santa Maria de Vallvidrera Recreation Area. The entire trail is <\/span><b>5 kilometers long, rated medium difficulty, and takes approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes. FOR LITTLE ADVENTURERS: LA ROCA FORADADA AND THE CAVE OF BRUGUERS (El Garraf)<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Discover all the route details <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/cueva-de-bruguers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-52687\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Roca-Foradada-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Between Gav\u00e0 and Begues<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lies the Bruguers Hermitage, the starting point of a spectacular hike through a red, rocky landscape. It\u2019s about a 30-minute drive (note that the road from Gav\u00e0 to the hermitage has several curves). Parking is available close to the hermitage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This route is not suitable for strollers or for children unaccustomed to walking. The trail begins with a rocky, steep section. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The destination of this hike is the Cave of Bruguers. Reaching this cave is the most challenging part of the excursion, and I wouldn\u2019t recommend it for families with very young children. There\u2019s a section with such a steep incline that a rope has been installed to assist with the descent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60097\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/bajada-Cueva-Brugues_-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If this isn\u2019t a deal-breaker, I highly recommend this hike. HIKE TO THE CASTLE OF ERAMPRUNY\u00c0 (El Garraf)<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b><\/b><strong>Find all the details about the hike here: <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/visita-al-castell-deramprunya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Visit to Castell de Erampruny\u00e0<\/i>.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bruguers Hermitage is also the starting point for another fascinating hike leading to the Castle of Erampruny\u00e0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60109\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Castell-Eramprunya_Alvarez_Diestro_Museu-de-Gava_g-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A significant part of this route overlaps with the previous one, so you\u2019ll also pass by La Roca Foradada. <\/span><b>Access to the castle is only possible through a guided tour (free of charge)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, held on the second Sunday of each month (except during the summer). Prior registration is required through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gavaciutat.cat\/es\/museo-de-gava\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the Gav\u00e0 Museum.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although not overly difficult (we\u2019ve done it with kids), the terrain is rocky, and there is a climb, as the castle is perched atop a rocky hill. Therefore, it\u2019s not the best option for families with very young children unaccustomed to mountain hikes. Otherwise, it\u2019s an excellent choice, as the castle is situated in a privileged spot in the Garraf Natural Park, rich in geological and botanical diversity. The views are stunning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Find all the details about the hike here: <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/visita-al-castell-deramprunya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><i>Visit to Castell de Erampruny\u00e0<\/i>.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><strong>4. <\/strong><b>THE \u201cELS DEGOTALLS\u201d PATH IN MONTSERRAT (BAGES)<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Monastery of Montserrat is not only a vital spiritual center but also an excellent starting point for hikes through its unique and beautiful landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60118\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1700658853420-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One such hike is the \u201cCam\u00ed dels Degotalls.\u201d The trailhead is marked right in front of the Montserrat Buffet. <\/span><b>This is an incredibly easy route along a wide path with no elevation gain, spanning about 3.5 kilometers round trip. The entire hike takes less than an hour.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Soon, you\u2019ll be able to read about our experience in Montserrat and learn more about this trail.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">5. <b>TORRENT DE COLOBRERS (Vall\u00e8s Occidental): STREAM AND FOOTBRIDGES<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b><\/b><strong>Find all the route details here: <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/una-excursion-por-el-torrent-de-colobrers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><i>Torrent de Colobrers<\/i>.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Torrent de Colobrers in Sabadell winds through a <\/span><b>geologically and scenically rich area.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It\u2019s a very simple route and can be particularly enjoyable for children due to <\/span><b>the many footbridges crossing the stream.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60124\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20231105_123814_1-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>This route is easy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, even for families with very young kids, and is located close to Barcelona (about a 30-minute drive, though it\u2019s also accessible by train). In autumn, it\u2019s especially charming due to the vibrant colors of the leaves.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">6. <b>VALLC\u00c0RQUERA TREE ROUTE (Vall\u00e8s Oriental)<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b><\/b><strong>Find all the details here: <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/ruta-de-los-arboles-de-vallcarquera-figaro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Ruta de los \u00c1rboles de Vallc\u00e0rquera<\/i>.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Vallc\u00e0rquera Tree Route is located in Figar\u00f3, less than an hour&#8217;s drive from Barcelona. Similar to the previous route, <\/span><b>water plays a central role here.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60127\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20211204_141936-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T<\/span><b>his is an incredibly easy and well-marked trail<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (indicated in red), making it ideal for families with children of all ages. Before heading out, it\u2019s recommended to download the route from NaturaLocal. The guide provides information about the trees you\u2019ll encounter along the way, including brief descriptions. At one point in history, it is said to have served as a home for a charcoal maker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60303\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Sin-titulo-11-6-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This trail is entertaining due to its varied landscapes and also passes by a reservoir. The best starting point is the Visitors\u2019 Center (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Centre de Visitants<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), where all the local trails begin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60309\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20211121_123417-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This route offers a <\/span><b>stunning variety of landscapes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The forested areas are particularly enchanting in autumn, with golden leaves carpeting the ground. Along the trail, you\u2019ll also pass through cultivated fields, predominantly cereal crops, along with olive trees, vineyards, almond trees, and hazelnut trees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s an easy and enjoyable hike in a town renowned for its beautiful Modernist architecture.<strong> More information<\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/excursion-bosque-malhivern-la-garriga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> here.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">9. <b>ARTISTIC FOREST OF ERNEST BORR\u00c0S (Maresme)<\/b><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b><\/b><strong>Find all the details here: <a href=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/bosque-artistico-ernest-borras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>Bosque Art\u00edstico de Ernest Borr\u00e0s<\/i>.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ernest Borr\u00e0s, a Catalan artist, musician, and composer, transformed the <\/span><b>forest surrounding his property in Dosrius into an open-air museum.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Over more than 30 years, he installed sculptures in the forest, creating a unique blend of art and nature. The materials he used include iron, steel, cobblestones, and a variety of recycled items.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60325\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/bOSQUE-ARTITISCO-ERNEST-BORRAS-4-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Some of his works can be viewed freely in an accessible part of the forest called <\/b><b><i>Zona de los Retablos<\/i><\/b><b>. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This area requires no payment or reservation. The trail is a<\/span><b> circular route spanning just over 3 kilometers with minimal elevation gain, making it suitable for the whole family. The area is notable for its scenic and geological significance.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-60337\" src=\"https:\/\/barcelonacolours.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pelag-gran-1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along the trail, you\u2019ll encounter four lakes (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">p\u00e8lags<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Catalan) and a dry one.<\/span><b> These <\/b><b><i>p\u00e8lags<\/i><\/b><b>, which are bodies of underground water, are the main highlights of the route<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Their crystal-clear water contrasts beautifully with the white stone surroundings. The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">P\u00e8lag Gran<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the most breathtaking and impressive lake.
