SNOW PARK IN RASOS DE PEGUERA<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

A few days ago, we went to Rasos de Peguera (in Castellar del Riu) to spend a day in the snow. My children had never seen snow in real life, and our plan wasn\u2019t very ambitious. We simply wanted to have snowball fights, go sledding, and build snowmen (in fact, I even brought some carrots so our creations would have a perfect nose), and for that, Rasos de Peguera is the ideal place.<\/p>\n

RASOS DE PEGUERA SKI RESORT<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Rasos de Peguera is a former ski resort that closed in 2004 and reopened in 2010 as a snow park. I\u2019ve read articles talking about a possible reopening, but for now nothing has happened. Only the out-of-service ski lifts remind us that it used to be a ski resort, and from what I saw, not a very large one\u2014although more than enough to spend a family day enjoying the snow.<\/p>\n

HOW TO GET TO RASOS DE PEGUERA?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Getting there is very easy and not a tiring journey. It takes about an hour and a half from Barcelona and it\u2019s very close to Berga. We went from Barcelona via the C-16 to Berga<\/strong>, about 15 km from Rasos, and from there it\u2019s as simple as following the signs, as it\u2019s very well signposted, and continuing uphill until you reach the destination, at an altitude of 1,850 metres.<\/p>\n

The road from Berga to Rasos is a typical mountain road which, shortly before reaching the La Creu car park, becomes one-way, as one of the lanes has been adapted as a parking area. Perhaps because the day was very sunny and there was no fog at all, it didn\u2019t seem especially difficult to me, although it does have many curves and isn\u2019t very wide.<\/p>\n

When we arrived at Rasos, we were able to park easily, although friends who have gone on weekends have told me that parking isn\u2019t always so easy and that there isn\u2019t always such low attendance as on that Wednesday when we went. It\u2019s also true that we arrived around one o\u2019clock, and by then we already saw many people leaving.<\/p>\n

WHAT CAN YOU DO IN RASOS DE PEGUERA?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The resort is perfect for spending and enjoying a day sledding, as well as for practising other mountain sports. The ski and mountain resort allows for winter sports (ski touring, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding\u2026) and mountain sports (trail running, paragliding, hiking, climbing\u2026).<\/p>\n

We brought our own food and drinks, so I can\u2019t say much about dining options. It worked out very well for us because the weather even allowed us to eat outdoors, which was well worth it as the scenery is beautiful.<\/p>\n

Although there are several slopes, we stayed on the one closest to the car park and spent our time doing what I mentioned at the beginning. The snow was plentiful, but since it no longer operates as a ski resort and there are no snow cannons, this will depend on weather conditions. By the way, if you go now, don\u2019t be alarmed if you don\u2019t see any snow at all until you reach the slopes. I was expecting to find a snowy landscape around Berga, but there was nothing at all. In fact, while driving up from Berga we didn\u2019t see a single bit of snow\u2014only when we were about to arrive did we spot some frozen puddles or a little snow on the sides of the road.<\/p>\n

All in all, we loved the experience. The truth is that the day turned out perfect: few people, lots of snow, and a sunny day. What more could you ask for?<\/p>\n
