HOW TO ENJOY THE AMERICA’S CUP IN BARCELONA WITH KIDS

The America’s Cup in Barcelona consists of five events taking place between August 22 and October 27, 2024, in Barcelona.

The six main teams have been training hard worldwide and are now nearing the end of their campaigns, with their new AC75 boats launched and preparing to feel the heat of a red-hot competition from August 22 through September and October 2024 in Barcelona, where truly “there is no second place.” The twelve teams from twelve nations competing in the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup and the inaugural edition of the Puig Women’s America’s Cup will also be present.

Port Vell is filling up with boats of all classes and sizes, including the J Class yachts that competed in the America’s Cup in the 1930s, and the 12-Metre Class boats, which raced between 1958 and 1987.

FREE SPOTS TO WATCH THE AMERICA’S CUP IN BARCELONA

For the public, this will be one of the most accessible editions of the America’s Cup, with perfect views along the entire Barcelona seafront. In addition, two FanZones will be set up with giant screens, food services, and catering areas at Bogatell Beach and Plaça del Mar, as well as spectator zones.

OFFICIAL RACE VILLAGE – Open from 12:00 to 22:00/23:00

The Official Race Village will be located along Moll de la Fusta, and entrance will be free. It will be the nerve center for spectators who want to get close to the sailors before and after the races, with presentations on the main stage, while soaking in the unique atmosphere of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup and following all the races live on giant screens with real-time commentary.

FANZONES – From 12:00

The America’s Cup FanZones are located at Plaça del Mar and Bogatell. They offer a direct view of the race course and the action on the water. The giant screens, which light up when the Race Village show begins, allow you to watch all the action once the race starts. The FanZones are also “free access,” so no tickets are needed. The FanZone at Plaça del Mar overlooks the race course, making it a great viewpoint. The FanZone at Bogatell, near the bases of the UniCredit Youth and Puig Women’s teams, is at the northern end of the race area, making it ideal for watching the start and the action around the marks set in that area.

VIEWING AREAS

There are many options to follow the action, offering the chance to experience the competition from different spots on different days for a varied experience. Plaça de la Rosa dels Vents offers great views of the teams as they enter and leave the harbor before and after the races. Port Olímpic, and the beaches of Sant Miquel, Barceloneta, and Somorrostro are also good places to watch the competition.

TEAM BASES

The six America’s Cup team bases are located around Port Vell: Emirates Team New Zealand is at the corner of Moll de les Drassanes leading to the World Trade Center. INEOS Britannia and Alinghi Red Bull Racing are next to the Aquarium, the bases of Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and NYYC American Magic are on the south side of the port towards the W Hotel, while Orient Express Racing Team is at Moll de Ponent. Generally, access to the team bases is restricted, although this depends on each team, but in any case, the public can watch all the action as the teams cast off and dock each day.
