The bookstore la Caixa d’eines meets all the requirements to be one of our favorite children´s bookstore in Barcelona: nice and cozy place, well chosen children´s and adult´s books, friendly and familiar treat.
We visited La Caixa d’eines in Aragón Street (near Passeig Sant Joan), but they also have another bookstore in the neighborhood of Gràcia (Plaça de la Revolució), specializing in children´s literature.
In Caixa d’eines of Aragón street adult´s literature is combined with a wide range of children’s literature. All very well-arranged and in order, with books exposed to the visual height of the children, inviting them to read, open and leaf through the books.
And as a good reader not only is born, but it is also created (something you have to work from the first readings which are the most important) we passed quite a time opening the front pages of different books, getting surprised from pop-up books, enjoying the images of the illustrated books, the glitter typefaces, and going from a shelf to another, assisted by Marta.
Apart from children’s literature in Caixa d’eines they also have educational toys, the ones that besides being fun for children, stimulate their imagination and creativity: puppets, puzzles, cards, construction games …

At the back of the store, a room clearly intended for children’s literature, is where they take place the weekly workshops of children reading, storytelling, and workshops of toys and crafts for children. You can be informed about schedules and prices by sending an email HERE

La verdad es que hay librerías preciosas. Yo me pasaría horas y horas en muchas de ellas, aunque sólo fuera por el olor de los libros. Soy de las prehistóricas que se niegan a pasarse al libro electrónico. Me encanta tocarlos, olerlos y coleccionarlos 🙂 uN besote chicas
Hola Marta, yo soy igual que tú. Super tecnológica en todo, pero el libro, de papel y cuanto más tocho, mejor. Y estas librerías donde los dueños te transmiten reverencia y amor por los libros… son un lujo. En Barcelona hay unas cuantas todavía. Besos!
