THE BEST PLANS TO DO WITH CHILDREN AT LA MERCÈ 2022
THE MOST TRADITIONAL MERCÈ:
La Mercè 2022 is… tradition in its purest form. The Giants of the City, the Eagle, the Ox, the Mulassa, the Viria and the rest of the beings of the Barcelona festive imagination will attend this year punctually to the Fiesta Mayor. If you like strong emotions, don’t miss any of the outings of the fire bestiary and keep a close eye on the devils and the “tabalers”, who have been preparing the gunpowder for days to make sure you have a Mercy… very exciting!
More than fifty activities will be organised by more than two hundred entities related to popular culture, including concerts, a giant’s parade, giant’s dances, etc. Consult the official programme because the activities are divided into different spaces in the city centre.
EXHIBITION OF GIANTS AND DRAGONS AND BEASTS
You can see different exhibitions. Giants Exhibitions: Days: September 11 to 23. Opening times: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm. Place: Pati Manning. Age: any. Entrance: Free.
Exhibition of the dragons and beasts of the festivities of the Mercè. Days: from 6 to 25 September. Opening hours: from 10 am to 8 pm. Place: public space of the Born CCM. Age: any. Entrance: Free.
VISIT THE EXHIBITION OF THE POPULAR PROCESSION
The kids will see the dragons, giants, fire beasts and other characters from Barcelona’s festive image that take part in the Mercè Festival. Days: from 17 to 26 September. Opening hours: Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm. Place: Palau de la Virreina. Age: any. Entrance: Free.

THE MOST FAMILIAR MERCÈ: SCENE, MUSIC AND CIRCUS
From Montjuïc to Besòs, the Fiesta Mayor children’s programme spans the city’s parks, offering plenty of activities for families with children.
SPACES AND SHOWS. Here are some of the spaces where you can enjoy different cultural proposals for families with kids:
PARK OF THE CIUDADELA. There are different stages throughout the park.Family show sessions will be offered on September 24, 25 and 26. Dance, theater, puppets, improvisation, carousel, small amusement park….Some of the companies and shows you can find are: CABARET BRODAS BROS: STREET CONCEPT; TEAM ROCKET, AKIRA & CHEY, MALTHE & IBRAHIM,; JUNIOR BONETICS, CHAIMAA, ANTOINETTE GOMIS, BRODAS BROS I GUILLIAM SONS, PEPPO MONK DJ PYRO MERZ: CREATURES RISE, LOS INFORMALLS: APERITIVO, etc.
MONTJUÏC CASTLE. Weekend (days 24 and 25). At Montjuïc Castle you will find circus shows: juggling, trapeze, acrobatic bicycle, trampoline, different games for all ages, road safety education area, DJ music for all ages and much more.
JOAN MIRÓ PARK. In the Joan Miró Park there are also different stages where you can enjoy performances for all ages on September 24, 25 and 26. Puppets, circus, music, Theater… check all the programme and the different schedules.
PALAUET ALBÉNIZ.At the Palauet Albéniz you can participate in activities on days 24,25 and 26. Activities such as circus, clown, theatre, new technologies and visual arts, magic, traditional music from different countries, etc. have been organised in its spaces.
PARK OF LA TRINIDAD. Another space in the city where families can participate in different activities for all audiences. On September 24 and 25. Dance, rumba, circus, Theater, puppets, clowns and music. Check out all the schedules and different hours.

THE MOST SPECTACULAR MERCÈ. LIGHTS AND FIRES
As in all the Mercè Festivals, the fire and light shows are the stars of the show. Here are the ones that have been organised for this edition:
PLATJA DE L’ESPIGÓ DEL GAS- XXIII INTERNATIONAL PYROTECHNIC FESTIVAL- During two days the XXIII International Pyrotechnic Festival is held. It can be seen from Espigón del Gas in Barceloneta. Among other gunpowder craftsmen, you will see a sample of Italian pyrotechnics. Days: 23 and 24 at 10 pm.
THE PYRO MUSICAL OF THE MERCÈ
As every year, La Mercè will close the programme with one of the most popular shows of La Mercè, the Pyro Musical. After two years, it returns to its traditional setting, with fireworks being launched from Montjuic and a large public festival on Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina. Day: Monday, September 26. Hour: at 10 pm. Place: Av. Reina María Cristina.

THE MERCÈ OF MUSEUMS
The municipal museums and other cultural facilities join in the celebration of the Festa Major de la Mercè with an open day. Most of them will be free to enter on the day of the patron saint, 24 September, but in some cases also on the days before or after. There are also those who organise special activities on the festival, such as concerts, guided tours, performances and workshops.
OTHER ACTIVITIES OF LA MERCÈ
And there are many other activities such as gastronomic spaces and places, the festival of associates, the 200th anniversary of Passeig de Gràcia with a special day on 25 September, a new location, the Parc de l’Aqüeducte where there will be shows by Pallasos sin fronteras and much more.
