BEST PLANS TO DO WITH KIDS IN LA MERCÈ 2025
LA MERCÈ AND TRADITIONS:
La Mercè 2025 is pure tradition. The Giants of the City, the Eagle, the Ox, the Mulassa, the Víbria, and the rest of the beings from the festive imagination of Barcelona will attend the main festival this year. If you like strong emotions, don’t miss any of the appearances of the Bestiari del Focs and closely follow the devils and the “tabalers”, who have been preparing the gunpowder for days to ensure you experience a very memorable Merced!
More than fifty activities are organized, featuring over two hundred entities related to popular culture, among which there will be concerts, giant parades, giant dances, etc. Check the official program as the activities are divided into different spaces in the city center.

CHILDREN’S CORREFOC
The children’s correfoc is a perfect activity for the little ones. The route will go from Consell de Cent to Provenza. You can enjoy it on Saturday 27: 18.00 h a 19.45 h. It’s important to be careful with the fire.
SHOW OF GEGANTS AND DRAGONS AND BEASTS
THE POPULAR PROCESSION AT LA VIRREINA.
The Popular Procession exhibition returns to La Virreina, the traditional venue for this event. Visitors will be able to see the Capgrossos Macers, the City Giants, the Eagle, the Lion, the Mulassa, the Ox, the Dragon, the Víbria, the Tarasca, the Cavallets Cotoners, the Giants of El Pi, and those of Santa Maria del Mar. The Procession exhibition can be visited until September 27, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
EXHIBITION OF DRAGONS AND FIRE BEASTS IN EL BORN. Dragons, the Víbria, the Mulassa, even a phoenix… Have you ever seen Nicolau the Dolphin from the Old Town? All these fearsome beasts are waiting for their moment to, surrounded by sparks, start spitting fire from their mouths—whatever burns, burns. When you see them in action, you’ll be too busy making sure a shower of flames doesn’t splash on you, so take the opportunity to admire them while they rest in the old Born market hall and safely get to know the city’s fire bestiary.

VENUES AND SHOWS. These are some of the spaces where you can enjoy a variety of cultural activities for families with little ones:
PARC DE L’ESTACIÓ DEL NORD. On September 24, all day—morning and afternoon—you can enjoy numerous theatrical performances and interactive installations for families with children.
PALAUET ALBÉNIZ. Activities are planned for the 27 and 28 of September. At Palauet Albéniz, there are organized activities like circus, clown performances, theater, space for new technologies and visual arts, magic, traditional music from different countries, etc. You can also take advantage of the open-door days to explore it.
PARC DE L’AQÜEDUCTE DE CIUTAT MERIDIANA. You can enjoy circus performances all day by Clowns Without Borders. Date: September 24.
PARC DE LA TRINITAT. Activities and shows for families with little ones are organized here. Dates: September 27 and 28.
PORT OLÍMPIC. There will be children’s activities and workshops on September 27 and 28. Another city space where families can enjoy different children’s shows and activities.
PARC DE LA CIUTADELLA. This year, many activities, talks, and workshops for all ages related to the “Terra i gust” food theme are organized in the Ciutadella. Dates: September 27 and 28, at various times.

THE MOST SPECTACULAR MERCÈ. LIGHTS AND FIRE
As in all the Festivals of la Mercè, light and fire shows are the main attractions. These are the ones organized for this edition.
XXVI INTERNATIONAL PYROTECHNIC FESTIVAL OF BARCELONA:
Barceloneta Beach, right next to Somorrostro Beach, is the ideal spot to enjoy the show that lights up the night sky every year in a thousand colors. This is the Pyrotechnic Display, which on Tuesday will feature one of the major pyrotechnic companies from Tenerife. LA MERCÈ DRONE SHOW ‘Onírica’
ONÍRICA invites us to look at the sky and reconnect with who we are. Light figures are drawn that evoke corners, stories, and traditions that unite us. It is a journey through a Barcelona that breathes culture, celebrates its roots, and looks to the future without forgetting where it comes from. An experience with 500 drones that makes us feel part of the same story, sharing a magical moment during which the city takes off with us. Date: Friday, September 26 Time: 10:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Location: Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta – Oriol Bohigas
THE PIROMUSICAL OF LA MERCÈ.
One of the highlights of La Mercè festival is the Pyromusical, held on the night the celebrations end. The Pyromusical is a citywide party, a total show. Fire and music, perfectly synchronized, are the protagonists of a night when Barcelonans look toward Montjuïc.
For Mercè 25, Estopa will provide the soundtrack for the grand light and fire show once again presented by Pirotecnia Igual. This year, the Pyromusical also shines over the explosion of colors at the Magic Fountain, which once again is the perfect companion for the light and fire spectacle. THE MERCÈ OF THE MUSEUMS
Municipal museums and other cultural facilities are joining the celebration of the Major Festival of la Mercè with an open-door day. You can visit many city museums taking advantage of their open doors.
