SANT JORDI 2024 is here, one of Catalonia’s most beautiful festivals. Sant Jordi’s day is a time to hit the streets and enjoy the atmosphere of the stalls selling roses and books that pop up all over the city. This year, the best florists in Barcelona will set up their stalls in different areas of the city, offering their roses and books outdoors. Additionally, starting from the 22nd, Barcelona’s bookstores can set up their stalls outside their shops.

SANT JORDI 2024 ACTIVITIES
As you know, Sant Jordi is Catalonia’s most beautiful festival. If you’re still undecided about which book to gift, here’s a selection of children’s books to consider for this Sant Jordi.
THE LITERARY SUPERBLOCK OF BARCELONA
This Sant Jordi 2024, the large pedestrian zone repeats between Diagonal, Gran Vía, Balmes, and Pau Claris streets, extending throughout La Rambla and Gran de Gràcia from the Salvador Espriu gardens to Travessera de Gràcia.
On April 23rd, both booksellers and florists will have exclusive spaces in various districts of the city, including the new addition of the Biblioteca Gabriel García Márquez space. Additionally, establishments can sell their products on the streets starting from April 22nd.

BUY ROSES AT THE CITY’S STALLS
This year, Barcelona’s florists and bookstores can set up tables on the streets on April 22nd and 23rd to sell their products. There will be numerous sales points spread across all districts. SANT JORDI AT CASA BATLLÓ. From April 21st to 23rd, Casa Batlló’s façade will be adorned with roses. Casa Batlló has become the most photographed spot on Sant Jordi’s days in recent years. The façade is decorated with roses, turning this iconic Gaudí building into a fantastic space to visit. This Sant Jordi, they’re reviving a Catalan tradition: the “auca.” On April 23rd, for every purchase at the store, you’ll receive Casa Batlló’s “auca” as a gift, while supplies last. SANT JORDI WORKSHOP AT LA PEDRERA. An activity where the little ones will paint a bookmark inspired by Casa Milà to showcase during Sant Jordi’s Day and then uncover the plant world references that Gaudí placed in every corner of La Pedrera, such as the Whale’s Attic or the Warriors’ Rooftop. SANT JORDI AT GRANJA AVENTURA PARK. Special Sant Jordi workshop: make your magical little dragon. This weekend, in addition to all the usual activities, come and experience a very special and different Sant Jordi day with the magical little dragon workshop. Many years ago, in the forests where Granja d’Aventura Park is now, there was a dragon… We’ve been told a very funny story about princesses, knights, and roses; but the ending was even more surprising: a few years after that event, some children living nearby found some dragon eggs that ended up becoming very special amulets: the magical little dragons. Simon the explorer believes that there are still some hidden eggs in the park, and he wants the families visiting us on April 22nd and 23rd to help him find them! Workshop with prior reservation HERE
SANT JORDI MUSICAL at l’Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm. A day full of live music, gastronomy, books, and roses with free admission! The Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm will host a new edition of the Sant Jordi Musical. It will be a day full of music, with over 40 live bands. Performances will be complemented by album signings, both by artists and bands performing and others coming expressly to sign. Roses and books will be available, as well as the sale of second-hand vinyl records and gastronomic proposals from various local food trucks, including vegan and gluten-free options. V SANT JORDI MEDIEVAL FAIR: Street market. You can enjoy shows and workshops while strolling through the various stalls. From April 19th to 21st, the fifth edition of the Sant Jordi Medieval Fair will take place on the Rambla de Guipúscoa, between Fluvià and Selva de Mar streets, in the Sant Martí de Provençals neighborhood. The Sunday Book Market at Sant Antoni. It’s the event we eagerly await, the great book festival, where thousands of people go out to find a book to gift to a loved one. A tradition we celebrate on this Sant Jordi day, and this year at the Sant Antoni Sunday Book Market, you can also celebrate, with extended hours from 8 am in the morning to 8 pm in the evening. DRAW YOUR DRAGON: Family workshop. With the cartoonist Lluïsot, we’ll learn to draw a dragon with all the details. There are many types of dragons: some are large, and others are small. Some are tall, and others are short and chubby. They come in green, brown, and all colors, like the rainbow. However, they all have common features we should know how to identify. Do you know how a dragon’s claws, scales, or wings look? In this workshop for the whole family, we will draw a dragon with the guidance of the cartoonist and caricaturist Lluïsot, an expert in all types of dragons and a great connoisseur of their anatomy and forms. OPEN DOORS AT THE PALACE OF THE GENERALITAT: On the occasion of Sant Jordi’s Day, the Palace of the Generalitat opens its doors. Visitors can explore the institutional and monumental spaces on the ground and noble floors of the Palace, including the Clavé Room, the press room, the Torres-García Room, the Kings Room, the Government Room, the Sant Jordi Chapel, the sacristy, the president’s office, and the deputies’ room. OPEN DOORS AT PALAU GÜELL: On the occasion of Sant Jordi, Palau Güell opens its doors to the public. Palau Güell was declared a historic-artistic monument by the Spanish state in 1969, and also a national cultural asset and world heritage site by UNESCO in 1984. OPEN DOORS AT THE MUSEUM OF CATALAN HISTORY: On Sant Jordi’s day, you can also take the opportunity to visit the Museum of Catalan History. THEATER. ‘The Legend of Sant Jordi’. Children. An original adaptation in a humorous tone of the legend of Sant Jordi. Georgina, whom everyone calls Sant Jordi because she has always wanted to be a knight, learns that there is a village terrorized by a dragon and decides to go fight him to free the neighbors from his threat. THE LEGEND OF SANT JORDI: Musical theater. A show full of overcoming, courage, and humor, which promotes the pleasure of reading and all the benefits that a book has for our cognitive abilities. Sergi is a young man who works intensively in a large library. One day, by chance, a book talks to him. It’s the Book of a Thousand Legends. This book, magically, will come to life out of nowhere and will tell our librarian about the big problem it has: the characters from the legend of Sant Jordi have lost part of their memory and don’t remember their role well because no one has opened the book to read it for a long time.
