WHAT IS THE NATIVITY SCENE IN CORBERA
Every Christmas the Amics de Corbera Association – responsible for the staging – turns the natural landscape of the Penya del Corb into a great stage of more than 700 metres where Christmas scenes take place recreating the Bethlehem landscape of 21st centuries ago. A great living theatre, a must to visit with the kids and spend an unforgettable afternoon with the family enjoying the Christmas spirit.
Along the route, you can see scenes such as the Angel’s Annunciation to the Virgin, the shepherds, the washerwomen, the Birth of the kid Jesus in the Cave, the Angel’s Annunciation to the shepherds, the adoration of the Kings, the flight to Egypt, or family life in Nazareth.
And also, typical Catalan scenes of farmhouses where different trades are worked, carols are sung, and the “tió” is made to poop in front of the traditional moss nativity scene.
MORE THAN 200 ACTORS AND RESIDENTS OF CORBERA
The scenes are performed by around 200 actors, residents of Corbera, who collaborate in a disinterested way, with a clear intention: to make visitors and friends experience Christmas in a unique and different way.
The performances of the Living Nativity Scene of Corbera take place during the months of December and January, coinciding with the Christmas festivities.
HISTORY OF THE LIVING NATIVITY SCENE IN CORBERA DE LLOBREGAT
The “Pessebre Vivent” (nativity scene) de Corbera is one of the most important and visited nativity scenes in Catalonia, and the first to start this beautiful tradition.
It was performed for the first time on 24th December 1962, thanks to the impetus of Josep Rodrigo i Puig (known as Josep del Agua), in the incomparable natural setting of the Peya del Corb, where it has been performed every Christmas for the last 56 years.
Years later, the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded him the Creu de Sant Jordi in recognition of his gigantic work.
DAYS AND TIMES TO VISIT THE NATIVITY SCENE
The nativity scene can be visited from November 30th until January 12th, 2020, at various opening hours during the afternoon. In the image you have all the details.
On Wise Men’s Day there is a special session to commemorate the arrival of the Wise Men. On days with the Club Super3 symbol, access to members is free.
