SANT JORDI 2026 ACTIVITIES

THE LITERARY SUPERBLOCK IN BARCELONA

In 2026, the large pedestrian area returns to the heart of the city, bordered by Diagonal, Gran Via, Balmes Street, and Pau Claris Street. This year, it also extends along La Rambla and a section of Gran de Gràcia. Plus, every district in the city will have designated spaces for the sale of books and roses, and businesses will be allowed to set up stands on the street starting April 22.

BUYING ROSES FROM CITY STALLS

This year, flower shops and bookstores in Barcelona will be able to set up tables in the streets on April 22 and 23 to sell their products. There will be many points of sale throughout the different districts. For two days, you’ll be able to buy books and roses at your neighborhood shops’ stalls! ORIGINAL PLANS FOR THIS SANT JORDI

Collective Sant Jordi mural with TVBoy. On April 23rd, from 12:00 to 15:00, come to the intersection of Ronda de Sant Pere and Passeig de Gràcia and experience TVBoy creating a live graffiti interpretation of the Sant Jordi poster. SANT JORDI AT CASA BATLLÓ. From April 21st to 23rd, the façade of Casa Batlló is covered in roses. In recent years, Casa Batlló has become the most photographed spot during Sant Jordi. The façade is decorated with roses, turning this iconic Gaudí building into a spectacular place to visit. This Sant Jordi, they are bringing back a Catalan tradition: the «auca». On April 23rd, with every purchase in the shop, you’ll receive the Casa Batlló «auca» as a gift, while supplies last. FAMILY SANT JORDI WORKSHOP AT LA PEDRERA: An activity where the little ones will paint a bookmark inspired by Casa Milà to show off during Sant Jordi, and then discover the references to the plant world that Gaudí placed in every corner of La Pedrera, such as the Whale attic or the Warriors’ rooftop. A hands-on activity accompanied by a guided tour, perfect for this time of year, where families can share the magic of Catalan modernism in one of Barcelona’s most iconic buildings. SANT JORDI MUSICAL ESTRELLA DAMM 2026. On April 23rd, the Antiga Fàbrica Estrella Damm once again becomes one of the epicentres of Sant Jordi with a new edition of Sant Jordi Musical, a major live music marathon with more than 20 performances across three stages throughout the day. The line-up features well-known artists such as Buhos, La Pegatina, 31 FAM, Macaco, Els Amics de les Arts, Maria Jaume, Triquell or Lildami, along with new voices from the Catalan scene and emerging acts. In addition to concerts, the event will include record signings, guest artist appearances, a food area with food trucks for all tastes —including vegan and gluten-free options— and a solidarity market with roses, books and products whose proceeds go to social projects. SANT JORDI AT RAIMA. A magical shop full of surprises for Sant Jordi. The Raima stationery shop transforms to celebrate Sant Jordi with a spectacular decoration: a car covered with more than 1,000 scented roses, a 2.5-metre dragon made of origami, a four-storey floral sculpture with hanging roses and a secret terrace hidden inside the shop. OPEN DAY PALAU DE LA GENERALITAT: On the occasion of Sant Jordi, the Palau de la Generalitat opens its doors. Visitors will be able to explore the institutional and monumental spaces on the ground and main floors of the Palau, including Sala Clavé, the press room, Sala Torres-García, the Hall of Kings, the Government Room, the Sant Jordi chapel, the sacristy, the president’s office and the deputies’ hall. OPEN DAY AT L’ATENEU. Take advantage of Sant Jordi to visit the Ateneu Barcelonès during an open day with public readings. The Ateneu Barcelonès celebrates Sant Jordi with a special programme of cultural activities: open day, visit to Palau Savassona, headquarters of the Ateneu Barcelonès, where you can explore the library, Pompeu Fabra room, Oriol Bohigas auditorium, conversation rooms, etc. Day: April 23. OPEN DAY PALAU GÜELL: On the occasion of Sant Jordi, Palau Güell opens its doors to the public. Palau Güell was declared a historic-artistic monument by the Spanish State in 1969, and also a cultural asset of national interest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. The building, as an early work, contains the essence of Gaudí’s later creations and is essential to understand his architecture. Day: April 23. Time: from 10:00 to 20:00. SANT JORDI AT THE SANT PAU ART NOUVEAU SITE 2026. The Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site celebrates Sant Jordi with a special day full of culture, literature and activities for all audiences.
